Horizons of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties is looking for a kind,caring, patient Individual to work one on one with a male individual living at home with his parents. In this role you will assist the parents by providing short-term assistance to the child that allows the parents of the child with Developmental Disabilities to take a break from the daily routine and stress of caregiving. Horizons is looking for individuals who have a passion for working with children ,who have emotional or behavioral challenges. Staff are expected to be professional and courteous as this job will take place in the Individuals home and in the community. HPCP’s would work a part-time schedule (that meets the families scheduling needs.) One on one interaction with the child will usually occur before school , after school and/or on weekends, and also during breaks throughout the school year. Training and support will be provided to the Specialist during orientation and throughout their employment.

Primary responsibilities include:
Arrange recreation and leisure activities that includes assistance to the child/adolescent in developing and/or maintaining social and familial relationships.
Provide education, support, and opportunities to practice skills based on the unique needs of each child or adolescent: social skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotions/behavior management, coping skills.
Assist the child in their ability to participate in community activities independently or with natural support.
Attend individual/group supervision and required meetings/trainings
Maintain accurate records of service delivery and timely completion of paperwork.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, experience working with children preferably with emotional/behavioral challenges. Applicants also must be able to pass a background check and drug test and possess a valid driver's license.
