Quality Inspector III
Reports To: Quality Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary
The Quality Inspector III is responsible for overseeing if completed products meet the quality standards set in place while providing guidance to more inexperienced inspectors. This person will play an essential role in helping HMMI maintain product quality and adhere to industry and company standards by making suggestions to contribute to the development of inspection procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, be analytical and have a strong knowledge base of quality control principles.
Essential Functions
- Utilize inspection tools such as calipers, gauges and testing equipment to ensure dimensions meet blueprint specifications and quality standards.
- Communicate quality concerns in real time with the Quality Manager and various departments such as production and engineering to ensure low rework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve quality processes and drive quality excellence throughout the organization.
- Help provide training, guidance and mentorship to more inexperienced inspectors and new employees, ensuring they understand the inspection procedures, techniques and quality standards.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment to ensure accuracy and identify opportunities for upgrades.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills.
- Knowledge of quality standards (AWS code).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical parts and assembly drawings
- Dimensional inspection skills — using CMM, and precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and hardness testers
- Adhere to safe work practices outlined by HMMI.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must have a self starter attitude.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner.
- Has a willingness to learn.
- Willingness to provide guidance to others on the team.
Qualifications
- Must have at least 6 years of experience in a manufacturing quality related role.
- CMM Experience, Knowledge of G, D & T and Blueprint reading
- Strong knowledge of quality principles and methodologies and the need for accurate and dependable quality inspectors
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
The working environment is moderately loud, dusty and dirty, temperature ranges from cold to hot as found in typical production facilities. May be subject to an outdoor work environment with adverse conditions ranging from freezing cold and snow to severe heat and humidity.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, frequently walk and climb steps, use hands and fingers, reach, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch, work on ladder, talk, hear and see.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
