Job Summary: A Paint Technician sets up and operates specialized equipment in order to produce, assemble, or finish various designs and sizes of garage door components. The candidate will verify dimensions and check the quality and fit of pieces in order to ensure adherence to specifications. The candidate will follow drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired, and will plan sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed. The candidate will also be responsible for painting any custom colored components used in the construction of the doors as needed.
The candidate will also be accountable for the overall quality and storage of completed parts, the preparing of rejected material(s) for return to vendor(s) and the housekeeping of equipment and general work area(s).

Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Marks outline or dimensions of parts on paper or raw material stock, according to print or drawing.
- Trims components parts of joints to ensure snug fit.
- Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form completed unit.
- Observes machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer and dial caliper. Adjust machine to control part process.
- Inspects “first part”, consults with quality assurance, and inspect work pieces throughout the production run, for out of tolerance machining
- Cut, shape, and assemble composite material parts to construct trims, overlays and window frames for custom doors.
- Clean and maintains machine, tooling, and parts to preserve equipment in optimal production condition.
- Mixes paint bases per specified recipes in order to create customer specified colors within the established tolerances.
- Pre-preps all materials and equipment for painting jobs including; the cleaning of parts and paint spray equipment, masking off areas not to be painted, mixing paint, reducer and catalysts to the proper ratios.
- Ability to load, unload, and operate moving conveyor system by hand.
- Paints all sections and associated parts needing to be painted in order to fill internal and customer production orders.
- Follows all procedures related to the job including proper start-up and shut down procedures for the equipment, cleaning and safety guidelines.
- Works in teams to troubleshoot manufacturing problems and perform quality assurance checks of own work
Minimum Requirements:
- Have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Vocational or Technical Certification Preferred with at least two years of on the job experience.
- Ability to be certified as a forklift operator.
- Understand advanced mathematical calculations including; the calculation of angles and lengths in both the English and SI measuring systems as well as be able to calculate mixing ratios.
- Experience in all forms of building.
Essential Mental Functions:
The successful candidate must be able to maintain focus of tasks at hand with a high level of attention to detail.
- Must be able to follow an established routine and be predisposed to high level of interaction in a team environment.
- Must possess adequate math skills to be able to accurately perform and verify the dimensions required.
- Ability to discern units of measure from direct observation.
Essential Physical Functions:
This position requires handling of all materials in different configurations of palletizing and containerization; therefore, manual lifting of materials is sometimes necessary and required. Physical exertion and sustained effort are a must.
- Ability to perform safe lifts up to 75 lbs.
- Able to operate material handling equipment such as, but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
Equipment Used:
Temperature welder, double miter saw, cleaner and router/vacuum, glue applicator, gram scale, volume measurement devices, paint mixing equipment, HVLP paint guns, forklift, computer and other equipment as required.
