Summary Description
Responsible for starting and operating all machines and equipment applicable to the production line. The operator will ensure the appropriate materials are pulled from inventory and prepared for assembly and all product is within quality standard compliance.
Essential Duties
- Obtain work orders and production schedule
- Pull new material (foam, steel coil)
- Assemble materials accordingly
- Operate pit area equipment including roll formers, glue machines, and steel press
- Preform forklift duties applicable to material/production change overs
- Assemble foam and glued steel sheets into a section
- Perform quality assurance inspection
- Maintain scrap report
Essential Job Skills and Experience
Education/experience: Any combination of education providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of transferrable experience preferred, but not required
- HMI/machine programing experience preferred, but not required
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Must be able to read a tape measure accurately
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Ability to drive a forklift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance and more than 50 lbs. using a team-lift
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Must have a Valid Driver’s License
Physical Environment/Working Conditions:
This position involves standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. It requires grasping and fine finger manipulation on both hands. The position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. It requires grasping and fine manipulation on both hands. The plant is not climate controlled. Noise levels can become high. NWD provides and requires hearing protection in the department. The work is done in an area where moving mechanical machinery, parts or vibration are located.
