RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking an experienced Information Security Manager to lead our data protection initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for selecting a technology partner to perform data discovery, mapping, and classification. This role requires collaboration with internal business departments and data owners to classify data and apply appropriate controls.
As a key member of the security leadership team, the Information Security Manager will also manage additional security responsibilities based on their experience and passion. These may include broader security governance, working with international business units, and other strategic security initiatives.
- Lead the selection and implementation of a technology partner for data discovery, mapping, and classification.
- Collaborate internally across departments and work with data owners to classify data and apply appropriate security controls.
- Develop and maintain data protection policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to ensure compliance with data protection policies and standards.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on data protection best practices.
- Supports security measures aligned to critical controls from the NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF). This will include selection, configuration, and deployment of security solutions to support compliance with critical controls.
- Provide security support for IT projects, risk evaluation of new technologies, recommend secure implementations and coaching others on security controls.
- Responsible for reviewing and updating information security policies and standards.
- Off-hours and on-call support is required, particularly in the event of a security incident.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Security, Data Protection, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in information security.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand new technologies, systems architectures, and business processes, and rapidly assess associated business and IT risks.
- Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
- Applicants must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa.
Preferred:
- Minimum 2-years experience focused on data protection.
- Knowledge of data protection best practices and associated regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience with data discovery, mapping, and classification tools.
- One or more information security certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, Security ).
- Knowledge of NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF).
- Ability to work across language and cultural barriers to complete team initiatives.
- Experience in one or more of the following security disciplines is desired: Incident Detection & Response, Cloud Security, Vulnerability Management, Threat Intelligence / Threat Hunting, Operational Technology, or Application Security.
LOCATION: Home Office (Preferred location: AUSTIN, MN)
TRAVEL: 10-20% travel may be required.

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $117,000-$164,000 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
