What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Supervisor/RN- Full Time - Night Shift position at Horn Memorial Hospital?
Hiring a full time House Supervisor RN for the night shift. 6:30pm-7:15am, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. Self scheduled holidays. Hired candidate will be provided with charge nurse mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate positive and effective nursing leadership as Charge RN, leading MSP staff and patient care on MSP and assisting in ED when needed.
Makes assignments of nursing staff according to needs of patients and competency levels of staff.
Acts as role model for staff through effective communication, knowledge, clinical expertise and direction to staff to ensure quality care is provided and practice standards are met.
Creates a professional environment that promotes teamwork. Must have the ability to work well with others in a team. Demonstrates professionalism and works cooperatively with others including members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Provides direct patient care and/or assists staff with patient care as needed. Takes patient assignments as needed for patient and staffing needs. Administers prescribed medications, IV's, and treatment plans, performs nursing assessments to formulate, implement, and evaluate a plan of care for medical-surgical and pediatric patients. Provides patient and family education needs.
Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize patient care and duties.
Integrates policies, procedures, standards, and healthcare provider orders to carry out quality patient care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Is a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current licensure as an R.N. in the State of Iowa. BSN preferred. Must be Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course certified.
- Experience: Has a minimum of two years’ experience as a staff nurse, during which time there was demonstrated leadership and management ability.
- Job knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice. Thorough knowledge of techniques and methods of nursing care. Familiarity with organization, regulations, policies, and procedures of the hospital. Knowledge in application of management principles and personnel administration in assigning, supervising, and evaluating activities of staff.
Applicant must pass background check, drug screen and health assessment including applicable vaccinations prior to hire. Position open until filled.
