Job Summary
Our Sales Staff is an extremely important and integral component to our company. Besides Sales Staff usually being the first contact a customer has with our company, our customers rely on our staff’s musical experience and product knowledge for guidance in selecting the right products for what could be years or decades to come. We expect our staff to be knowledgeable, competent, courteous, engaging, and professional at all times.
This retail position is specifically for band instruments, so proficiency in a brass or woodwind instrument is an absolute must. Please do not apply if you are not accomplished in at least one wind instrument! (Note: guitar is NOT a wind instrument!!).
Responsibilities and Duties
· Retail sales - including instruments, mouthpieces, cases, and accessories
· Customer service; all aspects of customer interaction, including walk-ins, emails, phone calls, handling repair drop-off and pick-ups for Fix This! Musical Instrument Repair, and more
· Opening and closing the store, counting cash drawers, and organizing the showroom
· Consumer Contracts and Instrument Rental Agreements
· Website management - updating and maintaining instrument-for-sale webpages
· Inventory management - including receiving, pricing, stocking, and displaying
· Social Media management – including all current, as well as up-and-coming apps and platforms
· Long term and special projects as necessary
· Full time or Part-time, with flexible scheduling a possibility. Full-time options may include 4x10s or 5x8s. Part-time options can be flexible, but Wednesdays and Saturdays would be required. Also, please note: this is NOT a summer job. Please do not apply if you are not available past August and September.
Qualifications and Skills
· Music degree and/or significant performance experience on a woodwind or brass instrument
· Ability to understand and communicate effectively and be comfortable working with beginners, professionals, and musicians of all ages and backgrounds
· Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are essential
· Previous work history in retail or customer service field preferred, but not necessarily required
· Excellent social, written, and verbal communication skills
· Good sense of style and organization, and ability to translate that into pleasing and functional displays for merchandising
· Ability to multitask & coordinate multiple projects to completion
· Self-motivated individual with a strong drive to do more than just the bare minimum
· Proficiency or aptitude for workplace technology - including POS software, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and Google suites
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
