The Employee Relations Manager identifies, manages and resolves workplace personnel issues and provides support to team members and focus area leaders, ensuring compliance with state, federal and local laws that pertain to team member interactions.
Essential Functions
- Provides employee relations and investigation expertise, case management, training and consultation, and project management; manages human resources investigations and provides independent counseling for team members and supervisors.
- Administers company policies pertaining to employee relations matters; maintains relevant knowledge of employee relations best practices and works to develop strong retention practices.
- Conducts thorough investigations under the guidance of the HR Director and in collaboration with the Legal Department and third parties as needed; recommends actions to address performance management; prepares or oversees the preparation of written investigation reports.
- Provides advice and counsel to focus area leaders, managers/supervisors, HR Business Partners, and team members to resolve concerns and issues; guide and direct HR Operations staff on performance management strategies and improvement plans.
- Creates toolkits and training materials to guide managers on how to adequately address behavioral issues in the workplace and foster a positive work environment.
- Collects, gathers, and utilizes employment data to make recommendations to improve organizational and business effectiveness; identifies and reports frequent issues, develops root-cause analysis, provides recommendations to management, and monitors resulting action plans.
- Manages and ensures the maintenance of employee relations records across the organization and document decisions to ensure consistency; engages and manages vendors that support employee relations and policy management to ensure costs, performance, and all other terms of contracts are followed.
- Selects, manages, evaluates, motivates, and supervises staff engaged in administering employee relations.
- Actively supports HR team operations, by ensuring efficient case management, timely resolution of employee relations inquiries, and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs). Manages and optimizes ticketing system workflows, tracking trends, identifying process improvements, and ensuring accurate documentation of employee relations cases. Supervises and allocates workload across the Employee Relations team, balancing case assignments, monitoring productivity, and providing guidance to ensure consistent and fair issue resolution. Analyze employee relations case data to identify patterns, recommend policy enhancements, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in HR service delivery.
- Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Less than 10%
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a closely related field is required
- Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive employee relations experience is required
- Functional knowledge of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is required
- Functional knowledge of various state and federal regulations regarding workplace leaves of absence and accommodations (ADA/nonADA) is required
- Proficiency in using HRIS applications, and other relevant HR tools
- Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills to address and resolve employee grievances and conflicts
- Ability to conduct thorough and impartial investigations, maintaining confidentiality and integrity
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to analyze complex employee relations issues and recommend appropriate actions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
