What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Controller position at Horner Industrial Group?
Horner Industrial Services, Inc. is seeking a Corporate Controller. The Controller will be responsible for oversight of all accounting and reporting activities. The Controller will be involved in supporting the CFO with presentations to the board of directors and will work closely with the operational leadership team. The Controller will lead all day-to-day accounting operations with responsibility over General Ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll and ensure the Company has the systems and procedures in place to support effective financial reporting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, budgets, and actual expenditures.
- Coordinate all audit activity.
- Lead ERP system integration, adoption, and improvement.
- Represent Horner to 3 parties such as financial institutions, customers, and service providers as required.
- Lead Continuous Improvement efforts in departments of responsibility.
- Lead the employee performance management process in departments of responsibility.
- Develop and maintain relationships with satellite facilities to include site visits.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep executive and operational leadership informed of the Company’s financial status.
- Assist operational leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the operational managers and continuously collaborate to assess the financial efficacy of operations
- Establish finance and administrative systems to support operations.
- Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with operational staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
- Actively drive continuous improvement finance processes.
- Leads, implements and promotes a culture of respect, integrity and accountability
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established practices and policies.
- Performs other job tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other related discipline, a CPA would be a plus.
- 10 years of accounting and finance experience
- Experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and functional stakeholders.
- Exposure to accounting for foreign subsidiaries and consolidations.
- Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to executive and operational management and other outside partners
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to non-financial managers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
