Hornig Companies seeks a Director of Property Management to lead our property management team with a diverse portfolio of buildings ranging from small buildings, larger multi-site portfolios, market rate, tax credit, urban and rural markets.
What will my duties be?
- Lead the Property Management team by Hornig Companies’ philosophy and values; honesty, integrity, respect. The people; our residents and team members, are the cornerstone in our success and crucial in making Hornig Companies home for a diverse group of individuals. Fostering an environment of professional, ethical and people-focused operations is crucial to this role.
- Responsible for the successful operations of over 4500 units in a multi-housing environment, overseeing a team of property management professionals committed to honest, safe, healthy, respectful communities and employment.
- Create and implement operational policies and procedures that promote improvement, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated and informed of legislative changes, implementing changes as needed.
- Ensure teams comply with current law and fair housing standards, non-discrimination and reasonable accommodation procedures and policy.
- Monitor and evaluate market trends and performance, recommending changes to policy, contracts, rent pricing and structure.
- Review and evaluate internal reporting, celebrating success and recommending changes.
- Advise staff on resident retention, operations, and complaints, working directly with escalated issues and emergency situations, placing high priority on resident satisfaction.
- Hire, train, coach, review performance, lead and mentor the property management team.
- Plan, schedule, deliver and provide outside resources for training to Hornig Companies staff.
- Set performance goals for properties and individuals.
- Onboard and Offboard properties to the Hornig Companies’ portfolio.
- Assist in the facilitation of the capital improvement process, cooperating with maintenance, owners and rehab/ construction teams.
- Work collaboratively and ensure coordination with ownership, property operations, marketing, maintenance, finance, and vendors.

What should I bring to the team?
- Strong organizational and customer service skills
- Able to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with employees, residents and vendors
- Able to communicate proficiently in English
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- 10 years Multi-site multi-housing experience preferred
- 5 years supervisory experience required
- AppFolio Plus experience is preferred
- 4-year degree in an applicable field or equivalent experience
- Able to lift 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds regularly
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet insurance requirements
Salary : $100,000 - $150,000
