As an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) for the Traffic Design group, you will support various traffic projects on our team including traffic studies, safety analyses, and design tasks for signing, striping, street lighting, traffic signals, ITS, and maintenance of traffic.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Collect and analyze traffic data and prepare technical reports (e.g., traffic counts, speed studies, crash data, etc.)
- Participate in traffic infrastructure designs; including but not limited to signing, striping, street lighting, ITS, and maintenance of traffic during construction as part of larger transportation construction projects.
- Assist in quantity takeoffs and prepare cost estimates
- Support Project Managers and Engineers with traffic engineering design tasks for various projects
- Adhere to Horrocks safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment
- Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product that is error-free
- Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering – EIT
- 0-2 years of experience in civil design is preferred.
- Preferred, passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
- Strong communication, written, and organizational skills
- Have a strong sense of self-initiative to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously and meet project deadlines
- Strong teamwork skills, working cooperatively with other team members, engineers, project managers, and clients.
- Be able to develop designs and documentation using OpenRoads, AutoCAD 3D Civil, or other design software
- Ability to travel and perform fieldwork on occasion
