Your Role
As the Infection Preventionist/ADON, you will have dual responsibilities: leading the infection prevention and control program while supporting the Director of Nursing (DON) in managing and supervising the nursing department.
Key Responsibilities
Infection Prevention and Control:
- Plan, develop, implement, and oversee the facility’s infection prevention and control program in compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state guidelines.
- Monitor infection trends, conduct surveillance, and maintain accurate records of healthcare-associated infections and exposures.
- Provide staff training on infection prevention procedures, including PPE use, hand hygiene, and outbreak protocols.
- Conduct rounds in all nursing units to assess environmental cleanliness and adherence to infection prevention practices.
- Develop and update infection prevention policies and procedures as needed.
- Serve on the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and report findings to the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee.
Nursing Leadership (ADON):
- Assist the DON in managing nursing staff, daily operations, and ensuring high-quality resident care.
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff, providing performance feedback and training as needed.
- Participate in care planning meetings and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address resident needs.
- Support compliance with state and federal regulations related to skilled nursing and long-term care practices.
- Assist with surveys and audits conducted by regulatory agencies.
- Monitor staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and adherence to budgetary constraints.
Qualifications
- RN License: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania (required).
- Certification: Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) (required at hire).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting (required).
- Infection Control Expertise: Proven experience in infection prevention and control, including compliance with CDC guidelines and managing outbreaks.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal and state regulations, including survey readiness and compliance standards.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and supervise nursing staff effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Point Click Care.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
