Reports to: Facilities Director
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Six months to one-year related experience
- Position requires frequent standing and sitting
- Position requires walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and bending
- Must be able to lift and push/pull up to 55 pounds
Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge Desired:
- To maintain all building sites in a safe and attractive manner, that projects a positive impression of the school district.
Responsibilities:
- Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, snow brooms, hedge trimmers, ride on paint sprayer, ABI diamond equipment, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
- Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers, trimmers, and edgers.
- Shovel snow from walks, driveways, and parking lots, and spread salt in those areas.
- Snow removal from sidewalks with use of a tractor and snow broom
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
- Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, and hedge and brush trimmers.
- Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
- Gather and remove litter and maintain/empty exterior garbage containers as needed.
- Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and structures such as buildings, fences, and benches, using hand and power tools.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, and small quantities of herbicides and insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and other grounds features.
- Water lawns, trees, and plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
- Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
- Plant seeds, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
- Maintain irrigation systems, including winterizing the systems and starting them up in spring.
- Use irrigation methods to adjust the amount of water consumption and to prevent waste.
- Mark design boundaries, and paint fields before events.
- Clean concession stands as needed.
- Unlock school doors on weekends and secure buildings at night by locking all doors and windows.
- Help with the setup of the fieldhouse and gyms, including fixing nets, resetting lights, and cleanup after events.
- Delivery driver as needed.
- Maintenance of the district ran baseball and softball fields. Consisting of mowing, weed prevention, chalking, and dragging of infields.
- Movement of scissor lifts via trailer throughout the district as needed.
- Preventative maintenance of all district owned grounds equipment.
- Moves furniture as needed.
- Inside maintenance including but not limited to light electrical plumbing and construction, cleaning as needed, preventative maintenance of HVAC equipment, door hardware, and fire equipment.
- Must maintain a positive attitude and interact courteously and professionally with students, staff, and the general public.
- Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director include work at offsite athletic field locations.
Performance Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by Facilities Director annually
Employment: Twelve month
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.59 per hour
