Hosanna Inc. is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that provides independent living for adults with disabilities.
Position Title: Resident Assistant - 1st Shift Weekends
Classification: Part Time; 16 hours per week; Saturday & Sunday 8am - 4pm
Salary Range: $16 - $18 per hour
Location: Hixson, TN
Position Purpose: This position is responsible for working with and encouraging our residents to be as independent as possible, taking into consideration each individual’s needs.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain a positive, supportive environment for everyone in the Hosanna Community.
- Help each resident to reach and maintain their highest level of performance and independence.
- Interact with residents to provide reassurance, engagement and redirection, as appropriate.
- Respond to resident complaints, requests and emergencies.
- Assist in resolving disagreements between residents, when needed.
- Encourage residents to help clean the common areas at both houses. (sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, etc.)
- Participate in other activities and outings, as needed.
- Communicate necessary resident information to the case manager via their preferred method. (email, verbally, or both)
- Document any incidents and report them to the case manager.
- Communicate clearly, actively listen, and build relationships of trust both internally and externally.
- Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality of client and organizational operations information.
- Safely use all equipment and materials. Follow established safety procedures, use appropriate safeguards, and observe common-sense safety rules in all on-the-job activities.
- Communicate any known violation of any office policy, code, safety policy, or law immediately to leadership.
- Other duties, as assigned.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works with a diverse population in an independent living facility, which requires sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, bending, etc.
Travel
- This position typically does not require travel but could occasionally require local travel.
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including accurate grammar and business correspondence.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize in a fluid changing environment.
- Must be organized, flexible, independent, self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, and detail-oriented.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Non-profit experience.
- Experience working with disabled individuals.
