Job Summary: The Lead Mammography Technologist is responsible for overseeing mammography services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing high-quality imaging services. This role includes direct patient care, staff supervision, quality control, and administrative duties. The Lead Mammography Technologist works closely with radiologists, physicians, and the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Supervises: Mammography Technologists and support staff within the mammography unit.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and guidance to mammography technologists.
Coordinates staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
Conducts performance evaluations and provides constructive feedback.
Assists with hiring, training, and onboarding new technologists.
Ensures compliance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
Maintains equipment and ensures necessary calibrations and repairs are completed.
Oversees quality control measures to ensure optimal imaging and compliance with MQSA, ACR, FDA, and state regulations.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Perform high-quality mammographic imaging procedures following established protocols.
Ensure patient comfort, safety, and privacy during imaging procedures.
Educate patients on the mammography process and answer any questions.
Monitor and maintain compliance with all accreditation, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, quality assurance reports, and compliance logs.
Collaborate with radiologists to ensure accurate image interpretation and diagnosis.
Stay updated with advancements in mammography technology and best practices.
Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures for mammography services.
Participate in quality assurance programs, audits, and inspections.
Troubleshoot imaging equipment and coordinate repairs with service vendors when necessary.
Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for the mammography unit.
Promote a positive and professional work environment.

Education/Certifications/Licenses
Required
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Mammography (ARRT-M) required.
State licensure as required by the location of employment.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mammography Technologist.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with quality control programs and regulatory compliance (MQSA, ACR, FDA, etc.).
Required Skills/Abilities
Strong knowledge of mammography procedures, imaging techniques, and breast anatomy.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
