Job Summary:
The Project Engineer serves as a key technical and managerial link between design and construction. This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of assigned construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within scope, and budget while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of project schedules and work plans
- Coordinate with design teams, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met
- Review and interpret project drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy and feasibility
- Provide technical support and solutions to design and construction challenges
- Monitor compliance with technical standards and industry regulations
- Supervise daily construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans
- Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications
- Coordinate with site supervisors to manage labor, materials, and equipment efficiently
- Assist in preparing project budgets and cost estimates
- Monitor project expenses to ensure they remain within approved budgets
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Ensure adherence to workplace health and safety regulations
- Provide regular updates to project managers, clients, and stakeholders
- Prepare progress reports, schedules, and documentation for review
- Facilitate meetings with teams to discuss project status and address challenges
- Ensure all construction activities meet contractual requirements and quality standards
- Maintain records of inspections and tests performed on-site
- Assist in selecting vendors and negotiating contracts
- Ensure timely delivery and availability of materials and equipment
- Adjust project plans and budgets as necessary to accommodate changes
- Assess and process change orders, ensuring all modifications align with project objectives
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project efficiency
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Certifications/Licenses
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field required
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred
- Certifications
- OSHA 10/OSHA 30 or ability to obtain
- Engineering Certifications is a plus
- Project Management Certifications is a plus
- Licenses
- Driver’s License
- Professional Engineer License
Experience
- 0 - 6 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, or project management
- Practical exposure to construction sites, project planning, and basic engineering tasks
- Experience in managing or coordinating smaller-scale projects or specific project components
- Familiarity with procurement processes, subcontractor coordination, and client communications
- Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects on time and within budget
- Experience in specific sectors of the construction industry (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial, infrastructure)
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and safety practices
- Proficiency in engineering and project management software such as:
- AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM tools for design review
- Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools for scheduling
- ERP or procurement software for resource management
- Hands-on experience with quality control, cost estimation, and risk management
- Experience collaborating with architects, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Familiarity with local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environments
- Experience in troubleshooting technical and logistical issues during construction
Required Skills/Abilities
Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and materials
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
Skilled in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools
Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)

Proficiency in managing time-sensitive deliverables
Skills in cost estimation, tracking expenses, and managing project budgets
Competence in identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies
Ability to resolve technical and logistical issues on-site efficiently
Evaluate complex problems, analyze alternatives, and propose effective solutions
Ability to convey technical information clearly to clients, subcontractors, and team members
Skilled in writing reports, proposals, and project documentation
Experience in supervising teams and aligning them with project goals
Ensures accuracy in designs, plans, and project documentation
Comfortable working in dynamic and fast-paced construction environments
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
