We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Interventional Radiology Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team at DMC Huron Valley Hospital in Commerce Twp, MI. The PA will work closely with interventional radiologists, nurses, and technologists to provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing minimally invasive image-guided procedures. Responsibilities include pre- and post-procedure care, assisting in procedures, and patient education, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
- Assist interventional radiologists in performing a wide range of minimally invasive procedures, including but not limited to:
- Vascular access procedures (e.g., PICC lines, central venous catheters, dialysis catheters)
- Image-guided biopsies
- Drain placements (e.g., abscess, biliary, nephrostomy)
- Embolization procedures
- Arterial and venous interventions (angioplasty, stenting, thrombectomy)
- Perform patient evaluations, including history-taking and physical examinations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests, and other studies as necessary.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising interventional radiologist.
- Provide post-procedural care, including follow-ups, wound care, and management of complications.
Procedural Support & Technical Duties:
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures, findings, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist in prepping patients for procedures, including obtaining consent and explaining procedural details.
- Collaborate with nursing and technologist teams to ensure seamless workflow and high-quality patient care.
- Adhere to hospital and department protocols, radiation safety measures, and infection control guidelines.
Patient Education & Coordination:
- Educate patients and families about procedures, risks, post-procedure care, and follow-up expectations.
- Serve as a liaison between the patient, referring physicians, and interventional radiology team.
- Assist with scheduling procedures and coordinating inpatient and outpatient care.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program.
- Certification: Board-certified PA by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Licensure: Current state PA license (or eligibility for licensure).
- Experience: Prior experience in interventional radiology, vascular surgery, or a related specialty is preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, imaging modalities, and interventional procedures.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) documentation
