Summary: The Hospice Chaplain offers a program of spiritual support for hospice patients, their families and hospice team members.
Qualifications:
- M.DIV. Degree in either ministry or counseling from accredited college, university or divinity school.
- At least one unit in Clinical Pastoral Education or related course and/or five (5) years in active parish ministry.
- Knowledge regarding the spiritual needs of dying persons and their families.
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team approach of care.
- Ability to approach spiritual needs of persons from an ecumenical base crossing all denominational, religious, cultural and social boundaries.
Responsibilities:
- Provides spiritual support and guidance through home visits and regularly scheduled rounds at the Hospice House based on patient/family needs and requests. Coordinates spiritual services with patient’s personal clergy when appropriate.
- Participates in establishing and evaluating the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care.
- Documents all aspects of care and services provided according to organization established policies to assure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provides assistance with patient funerals and memorial services when requested by patients and/or families.
- Provides education about services offered by the organization to clergy and the community.
- Provides oversight to volunteer clergy and other clergy employed by hospice.
- Plans and provides spiritual in-service programs to educate the hospice team.
- Assists with volunteer training.
- Coordinates mailings for clergy newsletters, announcements and correspondence.
- Available for support and counseling of hospice staff and volunteers as requested.
- Supports the overall culture of the organization, participates in organization sponsored events and performs other related duties as assigned or as needs arise.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
