Our Compassionate Care Center nursing assistants (NA) take pride in our award-winning, freestanding hospice inpatient facility. Our NAs work with a supportive nursing team, director, medical team, and interdisciplinary colleagues. Together, they provide compassionate, expert care for hospice patients who need inpatient or respite support.

Full-Time Day Shift 7a-7p. Rotating weekends required

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The nursing assistant works in conjunction with primary nurses to provide care in accordance with the nursing assignment assessment. They clearly communicate report and changes in the patient's condition to provide for continuity of care. Nursing assistants teach patients and families and help build self-confidence and comfort with the plan of care and the patient's decline. They also provide supplies and medical equipment per the plan of care, clean equipment as needed, provide light housekeeping, follow up on issues or needs in a timely and compassionate manner, document their visits, and meet the Hospice Care Plus employee standards and professional requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 75-hour certification class and current registration with the Kentucky Board of Nursing
  • One year of experience required; two years preferred
  • CPR certification
  • Ability to function as a team member and to communicate effectively with individuals and groups
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish a supportive, therapeutic alliance with the patient and family, physician, community, and members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Current Kentucky driver’s license and unlimited access to a reliable automobile with appropriate insurance
  • All employees must have the ability to lift and/or move a minimum of 40 pounds using proper body mechanics and safety measures. Individual job responsibilities may require lifting more than 40 pounds on occasion.
  • Employees are regularly required to see, talk, and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands; and to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

A non-profit, community-based hospice, we serve six counties in central and eastern Kentucky. To meet the needs of our communities, we offer these programs:

  • Hospice Home Care: hospice care provided in the home, nursing home, or assisted living facility
  • Compassionate Care Center: inpatient hospice care at our freestanding facility
  • Bereavement Outreach: grief support for families as they receive hospice care and for one year after hospice services are completed
