JOB DESCRIPTION
Our nurses work in a rewarding, safe environment with great flexibility, autonomy, and support. Our nurses start and stop their workdays from home, complete documentation and follow-up from home, and have only occasional need to visit our office.
The Primary Nurse in our Hospice Home Care Program works in conjunction with the hospice interdisciplinary team to ensure patients and families have continued access to compassionate and supportive care. They also teach family members basic and technical skills and carry out the plan of care to meet identified physical, psychosocial, and other needs. Primary hours are Monday-Friday days. All nurses will occasionally take call and work holidays. Nurses are provided with an iPhone, a tablet, and are reimbursed for mileage.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current license by the state of Kentucky as a registered nurse
- Nursing experience of one year required, with two years preferred
- CPR certification
- Experience in pain and symptom control management preferred
- Experience caring for terminally ill patients preferred
- Ability to function as a team member and to communicate effectively with individuals and groups
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish a supportive, therapeutic alliance with the patient and family, physician, community, and members of the interdisciplinary team
- Current Kentucky driver’s license and unlimited access to a reliable automobile with appropriate insurance
- All employees must have the ability to lift and/or move a minimum of 40 pounds using proper body mechanics and safety measures. Individual job responsibilities may require lifting more than 40 pounds on occasion.
- Employees are regularly required to see, talk, and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands; and to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
