Job Title: DME Delivery Driver Technician
Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor
FLSA Status: Exempt or Non-Exempt
Employee Status: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
Qualifications
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Certification:
N/A
Work Experience:
Prior experience in a driver/delivery capacity
Special Skills:
Be able to follow directions, read a roadmap/GPS and schedule home/facility deliveries.
Ability to use computer and smartphone applications
Ability to sit, stand, or operate a vehicle for long periods of time
Comfortable driving in all weather conditions day or night
Capable of safely lifting up to 100 lbs
Other Requirements:
Be at least 21 years of age
Must possess a current, valid Driver’s License and provide evidence of a good driving record
Must have effective verbal and written communication skills and techniques with facilities, patients, families, office staff, and physicians
Be capable of mature judgement
Exhibit good personal hygiene and grooming.

JOB FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL

Safely drives and maintains company vehicles.
Maintains vehicle in proper working condition, including but not limited to, oil changes, tire rotation/maintenance, cleaning of vehicle inside/out, filling gas tank, etc. and advises supervisor of any issues with vehicle.
Securely loads and stages delivery vehicles.
Prioritizes and coordinates deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls in an efficient manner.
Arranges for the timely delivery and set-up of requested items of home medical equipment and related supplies.
Assures all equipment and supplies selected for delivery are clean and in optimum working condition.
Provides patients with verbal and written instructions on the safe and proper use of all delivered equipment, including where appropriate, information on safety and infection control.
Performs assessments and reassessments of each customer’s care or service needs.
As appropriate, apprises patients of potentially unsafe or harmful situations in the home environment related to the use of delivered equipment and offers appropriate remedies for same.
Obtains the customer’; s response to care or services provided, the actions and interventions taken, and the outcomes of the care or services provided.
As indicated, arranges for the pick-up and return of all discontinued equipment and its ultimate replacement into active rental inventory according to established cleaning and maintenance guidelines.
Maintains equipment storage, cleaning, and repair areas in a neat orderly and safe manner, including delivery vehicles.
Ensures the continued availability in inventory of commonplace items of home medical equipment and related supplies.
Performs warehouse duties such as stocking shelves and maintaining inventory as assigned.
Performs repairs and/or periodic maintenance on selected items of home medical equipment when such activities can be performed safely and in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines and training criteria.
Refers service complaints and compliments to appropriate personnel.
Completes all paperwork documenting delivery and receipt of requested equipment and supplies, as well as all training provided, the performance of environmental assessments and the identification of unsafe situations with recommended action(s) to remedy same.
Participates in the organization-wide performance improvement program.
Maintains continued competency in the area of home care services by participating in scheduled staff development activities.
Participates in traditional and e-learning programs.
