Job purpose
To ensure the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provided to patients and the community is clean and safe to use. Provide competent, efficient, and friendly delivery service to patients. To assist in keeping the building and grounds safe and in order.
Duties and responsibilities
- The Delivery/Equipment Technician must be knowledgeable of all equipment and supplies provided by Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and uphold its standard for excellence Deliver and set up equipment and supplies efficiently and provide instructions to the patient as appropriate.
- Responsible for safeguarding company assets while in their care.
- With the assistance of the Director of DME, arrange for efficient and cost-effective routes and deliveries.
- Pick up equipment in a timely manner.
- Assist with cleaning and repair of all equipment when time permits. Maintain records for all equipment.
- Responsible for being on-call per Hospice of North Central Oklahoma policy.
- Responsible for attendance at in-service meetings.
- Help maintain building and grounds by cleaning, painting, performing minor repairs, weeding beds, and other tasks as time permits.
- Responsible for observing confidentiality at all times.
- Responsible for the safe operation and routine care of delivery vehicles.
- Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by Director.
- Periodically available for non-office hours on weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Serve as backup custodian for the Event Center janitor.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience/Knowledge/Personality:
- Excellent driving record
- Able to function as a polite and cooperative team member with a positive attitude.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- People-sensitive characteristics with a desire to help others.
Working conditions
- Some risk of exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
- Varied work settings including healthcare facilities, long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and private homes.
Physical requirements
- On an average 8 hour day employee lifts/carries up to 65 pounds frequently.
- On an average 8 hour day employee stands/walks 5 hours.
- On an average day employee sits 1 hour.(These hours include up to 1 hours of data entry/phone work.)
- On an average 8 hour day the employee drives 2 hours.
- Must be neat & clean in personal appearance.
