Duties And Responsibilities
- In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer, plan and execute development strategies for the annual campaigns, grant writing, special events, major gifts, and planned giving, meeting and representing the organization’s objectives, values, vision, and mission.
- Oversee, manage, and execute all aspects of the annual campaign, grant writing, and special events, including planning annual schedules, maintaining timelines, submitting necessary applications, interim and final reports, and tracking and reporting progress.
- Assist the Chief Advancement Officer with developing major gifts and planned giving programs.
- Assist the Chief Advancement Officer in creating individual budgets for each initiative and setting internal department revenue and expense goals. Manage the allocation of resources according to budgets.
- Identify, cultivate, and engage individuals, foundations, and corporations through research and personal interaction to support fundraising campaigns, initiatives, and special events and maintain donor stewardship. This includes nurturing relationships with board members, committee members, volunteers, and donors and identifying community leaders to serve on such committees to enhance events and revenue.
- Responsible for all aspects of development activities, including events, from inception to completion. Ensure events are executed in a first-class manner. Meet or exceed attendance and financial goals.
- Work closely with event co-chairs, volunteers, vendors, colleagues, and donors in planning events to ensure close working relationships and evaluate activities and assignments undertaken by others on behalf of the organization are executed appropriately and in line with the organization’s mission and values.
- Develop timelines and oversee logistics for all development initiatives, programs, and events.
- Responsible for day-to-day operations and oversight of the Development department, including finances. This includes ensuring all gifts are entered properly, gift acknowledgment letters are issued in a timely manner, and reconciling funds with finance monthly. Oversee the administration of the donor database.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and actively partner to market all development programs, initiatives, activities, and events. Collaborate with the Chief Advancement Officer and marketing manager on department publications, including but not limited to Annual Reports, Newsletters, and other collateral materials, as applicable.
- Review, evaluate, select, implement, and manage department resources as needed, including applicable development and event management software and apps, to facilitate the position's responsibilities and special events.
- Report monthly to the Chief Advancement Officer on the status of development efforts and, as needed, to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, Board Development Liaison, and Committee Members.
- Attending meetings and community functions as needed or at the discretion of the Chief Advancement Officer.
- When possible, Attend American Fundraising Professionals (AFP) seminars and conferences or other industry organization events to enhance industry knowledge.
- Perform all other duties as required by the Chief Advancement Officer.
- Hybrid position: This office-based position can be flexed to remote; decision to be made in conjunction with reporting supervisor. As warranted by the organization’s needs, being present in the office can be required at any time.

- Ability to travel throughout the Orange and Sullivan Counties service area.
- Knowledge of data collection and compilation for strategic and financial analysis.
- Well organized, with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.

- Supervisory experience required.
- Raiser’s Edge NXT experience or other donor database experience is required.
- Knowledge of social media management and email marketing software is preferred.
- Experience with standard fundraising practices and nonprofit management principles.
