Durable Medical Equipment Technician
- Working hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- On-call responsibilities after hours and on weekends.
Job Summary:
The DME Technician is responsible for the delivery, pickup, maintenance, and cleaning of medical equipment. This role supports patients and nursing facilities, ensuring equipment meets safety and compliance standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Graduate
- Licensure: Valid Texas Driver's License
- Experience: No prior experience required (training provided).
- Skills:
- Knowledge of medical equipment cleaning, repair, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with pickup and delivery systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Transportation:
- Reliable transportation with valid auto liability insurance.
Physical and Mental Effort:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
- Lifting, pulling, carrying, and pushing items up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Ability to work in various environments, including hot and cold conditions.
- Capacity to meet deadlines under stress.
- Requires manual dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
- Routine office and warehouse environment with some uncontrolled conditions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Deliver and pick up equipment for patients at home and in nursing facilities.
- Communicate with patients, families, and HOST personnel to coordinate equipment needs.
- Perform maintenance and cleaning of medical equipment.
- Promote compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in hospice regulations.
- Uphold the Agency's philosophy and mission by providing exceptional service.
- Serve as backup to the Facilities Manager as needed.
Additional Responsibilities (Preferred but not Required):
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, and janitorial duties for HOST buildings and satellite offices.
- Inspect and maintain HVAC units.
