What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Generalist position at Hospice of the Piedmont?
Human Resources Administration
· Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including evaluation and talent management processes, benefits and leave; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety, and workers' compensation.
· Maintains all files, forms, and database information associated with Human Resources; assures all files are compliant with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as with Hospice policies and procedures.
· Reconcile and process invoices for benefits and HR-related expenses.
· Maintains HRIS and works collaboratively with payroll to ensure accurate information between HR and Payroll; helps troubleshoot system discrepancies when needed.
Compliance and Policy Management
· Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; assists with review of policies and practices to maintain compliance.
· Maintains all Human Resources bulletin boards at all work locations with required up-to-date employment law postings.
· Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Employee Relations and Support
· Serves as contact for employees and vendors regarding all benefit plans, including enrollments, terminations, and mid-year changes.
· Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate individual.
· Coordinate and work with employees and vendors related to short- and long-term disability, workers' compensation, FMLA, and all leaves of absence.
Performance Management
· Leads the process for annual performance evaluations, monitors the progress of completion, and tracks required documentation uploads.
Recruitment and Onboarding
· Assists when needed in the recruitment process by placing ads, performing initial phone contact, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
· Assists when needed in the onboarding process by ensuring all forms are completed, conducting background checks, employee eligibility verifications, professional reference checks, and pre-employment testing.
Collaboration and Miscellaneous
· Collaborates with departmental managers on reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred
- At least three years of human resources experience
- Previous experience and understanding of general business functions, organizational flow, and following organizational policies and procedures
