Job Summary
Transport PACE participants to and from the program site and update transportation logs and records. Assist participants in getting on and off the van. Deliver medications, supplies, and medical equipment to participants' homes as needed. Update other drivers on route changes daily. Function as a member of the IDT and provide participant specific information.
Qualifications
Experience & Education
- High school Graduate or Equivalent preferred
- Valid GA Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- 1 year of experience with professional driving/transportation
- Must be able to operate mid-to-large size vehicle and possess general automobile mechanism knowledge.
- Knowledge of assisting patients or persons with Dementia/Alzheimer Disease, including individuals with mobility limitations or medical conditions preferred. And/or one year of experience working with a frail or elderly population.
- Must have not been convicted of criminal offenses pertaining to physical, sexual, drug, or alcohol abuse.
- (Preferred) BLS certified/ First Aid Certification. Must maintain upon completion/Or must obtain BLS and CPR within 60 days of hire.
Skills
- Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and patients/participants to provide excellent customer service.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team with other drivers and PACE Georgia staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The Driver requires the mobility to ambulate or lift a patient with or without the assistance of devices in excess of 75 pounds using proper body mechanics. Must be able to walk, stand, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, push, pull and twist the majority of the work day. While performing tasks in patient care areas there may be a risk of exposure to infectious diseases requiring standard safety precautions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: A full-time position works a 30-40 hour work week, rotating days, evenings, or weekends, with occasional requests to work additional days/hours as needed. The Driver position may be required to drive in what has been determined by local authorities as a high-risk crime area and unsafe situations (potential or actual). Although the driver may be designated to a specific department/region in our service area, at times they may be required to drive outside of their department/specific region. This Driver position requires extensive driving that may exceed 500 miles per week.
