ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Prepares meals in accordance with approved menus.
- Interacts with the Director of Patient Care Services and nursing staff to ensure food service needs are being met.
- Ensure state and federal regulations are followed including the maintenance of a clean, safe environment for the storage, preparation and handling of food including but not limited to OSHA and Health Department regulations.
- Collaborates effectively with the nursing staff concerning special patient needs, diets, and their wants that enrich the quality of care for hospice patients in a compliant manner.
- Purchases food and supplies and completes maintains an adequate inventory.
- Manage related expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Handles food in a clean and safe manner to prevent contamination.
- Store food in an organized and safe manner to prevent spoilage.
- Washes dishes and cleans the kitchen after food preparation and storage.
- Prepares food for special hospice events and supports these events as needed.
- Inspects all equipment daily and reports any hazardous situations to the immediate supervisor.
- Performs scheduled cleaning of kitchen equipment as assigned.
- Display critical thinking skills to problem solve and manage patient and family issues according to Hospice and Standard of Practice and HGI policies and procedures.
- Participate in emergency disaster processes as defined by HGI policies.
- Demonstrates familiarity with HGI policies / procedures and follows state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Performs assignments as directed.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all patients.
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by demonstrating behavior and communicating in a professional manner suitable for interaction with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
- Performs other duties assigned as needed.
