REQUIRED: Licensed by the State of Connecticut as a Psychologist/license eligible. PREFERRED: Minimum of one year experience providing standardized diagnostic evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder. PREFERRED: Minimum of one year experience providing individual and family psychotherapy for children and adolescents. JOB SUMMARY The Autism Center Psychologist provides standardized diagnostic evaluation for possible or known Autism Spectrum Disorder, and evidence-based treatment for associated behavioral and emotional difficulties He/She consults with treatment team for management of cases, families for education and/or treatment, and with the various treatment teams’ leadership as requested. PHYSICAL DEMANDS COGNITIVE DEMANDS WORK DEMANDS This position requires working in the outpatient clinic and hospital. This means occasional exposure to wet, humid, or dry conditions, as well as noise, odors, hazards and blood borne pathogens. The Staff psychologist occasionally works alone, but usually is working with a variety of individuals, often in crowed areas. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The outpatient Psychologist primarily provides diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder, including the following: Gathering history through interviews with parents/caregivers and review of prior records. ? Administering standardized intellectual assessments, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition (ADOS-2) and/or the Childhood Autism Rating Scale, 2nd Edition (CARS-2), and parent and teacher rating scales as needed. Scoring and interpretation of these psychological assessment measures. Writing high-quality comprehensive evaluation reports including client’s history, test and questionnaire data, clinical formulation, diagnosis, and recommendations specific to ASD. Providing feedback to parents and caregivers regarding evaluation results, diagnosis, and recommendations. The OP Clinical Psychologist engages in care coordination and treatment planning on behalf of evaluated clients and their families. For example, completing referrals for additional services, collecting collateral from providers via phone, and participating in Planning and Placement Team meetings if needed. School consultation and independent evaluations through school contracts including psychological evaluation, school-based observations, providing feedback to family and school team, and participation in PPT meetings. The outpatient Psychologist will also be expected to provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy to patients with known ASD, grounded in behavioral, cognitive behavioral, or family systems theory. The Psychologist provides in-services about ASD to hospital staff and community partners as requested. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong time-management. Completes documentation in the medical record and billing in a timely manner and in keeping with internal policy and professional standards. Willingness to collaborate across disciplines.
