QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: Associates degree required or appropriate experience in lieu of degree.
- Required: Self-motivated, independent worker with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Required: Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Required: Experience with Microsoft Office. Staffing programs such as Kronos, preferred.
- Preferred: Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Preferred: Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates scheduling and staffing to ensure sufficient staff coverage for all shifts within a healthcare facility. Works with clinical and administrative departments to project staffing needs and achieve required staffing levels. Utilizes and maintains staffing scheduling software/programs to schedule shifts, monitor staffing levels, and input related data. Contacts per diem and other personnel for staff coverage as needed. Enters staffing changes daily as necessary in the scheduling system. Provides computer-generated reports on a daily basis and as required and/or requested. May perform other administrative functions as necessary.

- Occasionally carries boxes/materials weighing up to 40 lb.
- Occasionally stands for extended periods of time.
- Job requires standing occasionally for brief periods. Job is mostly sedentary, sitting at desk functions up to but usually not greater than 120 minutes at a time.
- Job involves carrying of documents and books. Reaching and bending as related to accessing file drawers and shelves for documents position would be sustained for not greater than 15 minutes.
- Fine manipulation is required as related to writing or computer usage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assures appropriate staff levels and personnel required according to acuity data for the patient care units in collaboration with the Manager/Director and Administration.
- Plans and coordinates for current and incoming shifts’ staffing needs according to staffing model
- Support hiring processes by assisting in preparation and execution of orientation and training schedules/plans
- Develops work schedules/patterns by allocating employees in shifts and positions assuring a balanced staffing model in collaboration with manager/shift manager
- Assume responsibility for accurate timekeeping and monitoring staff to assure adherence to hospital scheduling and timekeeping policies
- Enters time changes daily into timekeeping and scheduling system to ensure adequate staffing, payroll and accurate staffing boards.
- Collaborates with payroll and Nursing Manager to ensure correct employee compensation.
- Prioritizes and directs calls as appropriate and responds appropriately to routine staffing inquiries
- Performs miscellaneous duties as requested.
- Processes employee vacation requests, peer exchanges after manager approval and ensures that substitutes are available to fill in and scheduling guidelines are met.
- Informs management team immediately of any situation that threatens the ability to meet minimum staffing standards.
- Maintains Light Duty/Leave log and updates information into the scheduling system.
