What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant (Overnight) position at Hospital for Veterinary Surgery?
The Hospital for Veterinary Surgery, the first surgery-exclusive veterinary hospital in New York City, is seeking to further build our clinical team with a compassionate Veterinary Assistant. The role works with hospitalized patients from 7pm to 7am.
This is a newly created position with our collaborative team of passionate veterinary professionals, practicing in a clinician-designed, 10,000 square foot facility launched in July 2023. The practice of modern medicine in a state of the art and highly personalized environment is our highest goal for both patients and clients.

What You'll Do:
- Ensure patients are comfortable at all times
- Clean, disinfect and maintain kennels, cages, and runs
- Keep the hospital clean and sanitary
- Sterilize the surgical suite and surgical equipment
- Restocking
- Walking dogs to relief room
- Duties as assigned by Vet Techs
What we're looking for:
- At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant
- The ability to closely follow specific clinical instructions
- Confident restraint skills, experience with ICU care, basic hospital knowledge
- An intellectual curiosity and compassion
- Excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to handle multiple tasks
- Someone who loves to learn and acquire new skills
- A willingness to take initiative
- A candidate with the ability to quickly pivot and assist where needed
Salary : $24 - $27
