Hospital Sisters Health System is looking for a Chief Medical Officer to lead our Southern Illinois Market. The market structure includes four Illinois HSHS Hospitals and is based at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL. This position holds direct responsibility for the respective hospital medical staff coordinating functions, serves as the physician leader for care management functions, champions quality and safety initiatives in concert with the market CNO to optimize patient outcomes, partners with risk management for risk intervention and reduction activities, and works with the Market based leadership team to drive strategic growth. This role reports directly to the SVP Chief Clinical Officer with matrixed reporting into the Southern Illinois Market President & CEO.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned collaborative physician leader that is comfortable managing in a matrix environment with a proven track record in successfully managing provider relations as well as physician engagement within a hospital setting. The ideal candidate is also comfortable managing and integrating new relationships with external physician partnerships associated with the hospital. This leader must be comfortable flexing responsibility across multiple locations as our structures continue to evolve to align with market structures.

Minimum Requirements:
- MD or DO required
- Graduate degree in healthcare administration, business, medical management or public health is preferred.
- Licensed as a physician in the state of Illinois within 120 days of hire.
- Specialty practice background preferred
- Must have leadership experience in acute care setting, working and participating on MEC, quality boards, etc.
- Experience as Hospital CMO is highly preferred
- Minimum of five years post residency experience

Qualifications
Education
Doctorate in Medicine, Osteopathy, or related degree is required.
Graduate degree in healthcare administration, business, medical management or public health is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of five years post residency experience with demonstrated success in current clinical practice, participation in a leadership role in medical staff activities, and management experience in health care delivery. Is an active member of the medical staff or is actively pursuing membership and privileges.
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations
Licensed as a physician in the state of practice is required within 120 days of hire.
