What are the responsibilities and job description for the Genetics Counselor - Multi-Specialty position at Hospital Sisters Health System?

HSHS St. Vincent Hospital Genetics team is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Genetics Counselor to join our esteemed team. The Genetics team is comprised of two Genetic Counselors and two Genetic Counseling Assistants working collaboratively to provide exceptional care.

The team partners with multiple departments, including but not limited to Cystic Fibrosis, Oncology, and Maternal Fetal Medicine, to deliver comprehensive genetic counseling services.

Position Specifics :

Schedule : Full time, 40 hrs / wk, 8am-4 : 30pm Monday to Friday (no nights, weekends or on call)

Education Qualifications

Master's degree in genetic counseling is required.

Bachelor's Degree in genetic counseling plus 5 years human genetics, genetics counseling or related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience Qualifications

Experience in and knowledge of human genetics, particularly its clinical aspects is required.

Experience in genetic counseling and in working with patients and their families is required.

Experience or training in teaching and / or education is preferred.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

Certified or Licensed as a Genetic Counselor in the state of practice is required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.

Certification as a genetic counselor by the American Board of Medical Genetics or other recognized certifying body within 12 months of hire is required.

Pay Range : 35.92 - $53.88

A successful candidate's actual pay rate will be based on several factors including relevant experience, skills, training, certifications and education.
