OB TITLE: Emergency Medical Technician
LOCATION: Roanoke, VA
SHIFTS: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
REQUIREMENTS: Weekend availability. Travel may be required out of town or state.
Job Summary:
As an EMT at our EMS agency, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality medical care during inter-facility transfers. You’ll respond to select medical and traumatic emergencies, as well as transport patients between hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes. Your professionalism, compassion, and clinical expertise will directly impact patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to medical and traumatic emergencies.
- Provide basic life support procedures on scene.
- Assess and stabilize patients in critical conditions.
- Inter-Facility Transfers:
- Transport patients between healthcare facilities (hospitals, clinics, nursing homes).
- Ensure safe and efficient transfer of patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to maintain continuity of care.
- Patient Care:
- Administer emergency medical care during transportation.
- Monitor vital signs and manage patient comfort.
- Assist patients with mobility and transfers.
- Professionalism:
- Represent the agency with integrity and professionalism.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care.
- Teamwork:
- Collaborate with other EMTs, paramedics, and healthcare providers.
- Assist other company departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Valid EMT certification (state-specific).
- Experience: Prior experience in emergency medical services.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Skills:
- Proficient in basic life support techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
