JOB TITLE: Paramedic
LOCATION: Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Yorktown, Gloucester, Hampton, Williamsburg, VA
SHIFTS: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
REQUIREMENTS: All shifts available. Travel may be required out of town or state.
About us: Hospital to Home LLC serves as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s premier transportation provider. Our services include ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher transport as well as Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, & Critical Care Transports.
About the Role: You will serve as part of the H2H Emergency Services team, providing transport for patients that require Advanced Life Support and/or Critical Care Transports. Paramedics will use basic and advanced life support equipment to provide basic or advanced life supportive care to patients during transport. Paramedics may also occasionally act as a driver where they are responsible for the safe loading, unloading, and travel of patients from their pick-up and drop-off locations.
Prerequisites:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English language (12VAC5-31-1503).
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Have an acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with company policy.
- Maintain current certification through the VA OEMS as a Paramedic.
- Hold and maintain current certifications in: ACLS, CPR & EVOC.
- Not have been convicted or found guilty of any crime, offense, or regulatory violation, or participated in other prohibited conduct identified in state EMS regulations as found in 12VAC5-31-910.
- Have no physical or mental impairment that would render the employee unable to perform all practical skills required for their level of certification including the ability to function and communicate independently and perform appropriate patient care, physical assessments and treatments without the need for an assistant (12VAC5-31-1503).
- May not be under the influence of any drugs or intoxicating substances that impairs the employee's ability to provide patient care or operate a motor vehicle while on duty or when responding or assisting in the care of a patient (12VAC5-31-940)
Competencies:
The Paramedic must demonstrate competency in handling emergencies utilizing advanced life support equipment and skills in accordance with the objectives in the U.S. Department of Transportation National EMS Education Standards for the Paramedic to include having the ability to:
Verbally communicate in person and via telephone and using the English language.
Hear spoken information from co-workers, patients, physicians, and dispatchers and in sounds common to the emergency scene.
- Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 125 pounds (250 with assistance) a height of 33 inches, a distance of 10 feet.
- Read and comprehend written materials under stressful conditions.
- Document, physically in writing, patient information in prescribed format.
- Demonstrate manual dexterity and fine motor skills, with ability to perform all tasks related to quality patient care in a safe manner.
- Bend, stoop, crawl, and walk on uneven surfaces.
- Withstand varied environmental conditions such as extreme heat, cold, and moisture.
- Meet minimum vision requirements to operate a motor vehicle within the state.
- Perform quickly, precise, practical mathematical calculations pertinent to ratio and proportion of medication and supplies used in emergency patient care.
Conditions of Employment:
- Candidates selected for employment are subject to a fingerprint-based background screening, as required by the Virginia Office of EMS. Candidates who refuse to be fingerprinted will be denied employment with H2H Emergency Services. Individuals who do not possess the stated requirements will not be considered!
