What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Marketing Intern position at Host Guest?
Digital Marketing Intern – Host Guest
Host Guest is a growing startup that launched in 2024 with one mission: to make it easier for students and travelers to find meaningful, affordable housing through connections with trusted host families.
Whether you’re a student moving out of state, an international guest starting a new chapter, or a traveler seeking cultural exchange, Host Guest is here to offer a home away from home.
As we prepare for the launch of our platform in the U.S., our focus is on building momentum, awareness, and digital visibility without yet launching the app.
We’re looking for experienced Digital Marketing Interns who can help us strategize, track, and grow our digital presence through smart, data-backed initiatives. This is not a content or social media posting role, it’s a strategy and analysis role designed to amplify and optimize the work of our content and social media teams.
This role is not for beginners. We’re looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience in marketing or digital media who can lead a small team, bring structure, and drive creative campaigns that build awareness, buzz, and community.
Job Description
As a Digital Marketing Intern, you will support Host Guest’s marketing strategy by helping track performance, research growth opportunities, develop email and SEO-based campaigns, and assist in small-scale paid campaign setups. You’ll work closely with the Marketing Manager, Content, and Social Media Interns to analyze what works, identify gaps, and improve overall digital performance before launch.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to go beyond content creation and dive into marketing strategy, research, SEO, analytics, and paid media.
Key Responsibilities
• Performance Tracking & Reporting: Monitor key metrics across Instagram, LinkedIn, and our website (pre-launch landing page) and provide weekly insights.
• SEO Research & Strategy: Identify keywords and assist in optimizing social captions, web copy, and content for improved discoverability.
• Email Marketing Support: Help plan and design basic newsletters or email campaigns (using Mailchimp, ConvertKit, etc.) to engage early users and waitlist sign-ups.
• Paid Campaign Support: Assist with small-scale paid campaigns or boost strategy — suggest audiences, monitor ad reach, and report performance.
• Competitive Research: Analyze similar platforms, student-focused brands, and hospitality tech startups to identify content gaps and opportunities.
• Hashtag Trend Analysis: Work with the content and social teams to optimize hashtag usage and campaign timing based on user behavior.
• Marketing Calendar Input: Support the team in building a strategic campaign timeline for pre-launch and launch phases.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in digital marketing, growth strategy, SEO, or analytics.
• Strong understanding of marketing KPIs, growth tactics, and campaign structure.
• Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, Mailchimp, or similar.
• Experience working with or supporting paid or organic marketing strategies.
• Bonus: Experience with a startup, mobile app, or pre-launch product marketing.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Internship Details
• This is an unpaid internship with a guaranteed base monetary compensation of $500 at the end of the internship with bonuses up to $500.
• The internship is part-time and fully remote and will run over a period of 3 to 4 months.
• The official start date is Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
• Outstanding performance may lead to a future paid opportunity with Host Guest after the internship concludes.
• Interns will receive a detailed letter of recommendation and the chance to lead and contribute to a fast-growing startup.
