POSITION SUMMARY
The Infant-Toddler Teacher at Hostos Children’s Center, Inc. plays an integral role in all aspects of developmental growth of children six weeks – 3 years. The Infant-Toddler teacher establishes and ensures nurturing activities, interaction and environment, as well as adopts curriculum to encourage active exploration, physical, cognitive and emotional and social development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Collaborates with the Infant-Toddler Assistant Teacher and other instructional staff to ensure the classroom environment meets ITERS and QualitystarsNY standards.
· Team teaches and cross collaborates with other teachers and staff.
· Assists with the creation of policies in their classroom/learning spaces which creates the learning environment, encompassing classroom management and arranging for needed resources to produce desired learning outcomes.
· Develops age and ability appropriate lesson plans and submits them in a timely manner.
· Participates in the ongoing assessment of children through appropriate assessment tools; including utilization of Teaching Strategies Gold.
· Showcases children’s work and progress in displays and individualized portfolios.
· Supervises children during all program activities. Reports to supervisor any signs or symptoms of suspected child abuse and/or neglect, injuries, or illness.
· Completes daily heath/wellness checks of children at arrival and dismissal, and completes required screening forms.
· Adheres to safety and evacuation plans to escort children to safety in the case of drills and emergency situations.
· Participates in Hostos Children’s Center parent outreach initiatives.
· Checks work email daily.
· Keeps accurate and organized records for each child enrolled in your classroom, including Sleep logs, Feeding logs, Diaper changing logs, Portfolios, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
· Bi-lingual a plus
· Associates or a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education
· 1 – 2 years of experience working with children ages birth – 4 years in a classroom setting.
· Complies with all DOHMH requirements and other agency requirements necessary for the operation of the Center.
· Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service trainings, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
· Creation and on-going maintenance of Aspire account.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $44,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
