Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Dishwasher / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This dual-role position is essential in maintaining cleanliness and efficiency in our kitchen while supporting the culinary team with food preparation tasks. As a Dishwasher / Prep Cook, you will be responsible for ensuring dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, while also assisting with the preparation of ingredients for meals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dishwashing:
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing area, ensuring it is free from food debris and clutter.
- Ensure all dishes and kitchen tools are properly sanitized according to health and safety guidelines.
- Organize clean dishes in their proper locations for easy access by kitchen staff.
- Food Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning.
- Prepare vegetables, fruits, meats, and other ingredients under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager.
- Help with basic cooking tasks, such as assembling dishes, garnishing, and plating when necessary.
- Keep prep areas clean and organized, maintaining adherence to food safety standards.
- General Kitchen Support:
- Assist with the organization and stocking of kitchen supplies and ingredients.
- Ensure that all kitchen areas remain clean, organized, and sanitary at all times.
- Follow all kitchen safety protocols, including safe food handling and proper use of kitchen equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by kitchen staff or management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a dishwasher or in a kitchen prep role is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain focus during busy periods.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for long periods of time.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Flexibility and willingness to help in different areas of the kitchen as needed.
