GENERAL:

POSITION STATUS: This position is a Non-Exempt position. Generally expected to work 5 days a week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares patient for the physical examination, accurately updates required sections of patient medical record, measures and records vital signs
2. Screens calls, assesses and triages patients for the providers.
3. Keeps patient rooms adequately stocked.
4. Administers treatments, prescribed medication and procedures.
5. Helps patients in obtaining assistance for medication.
6. Performs blood draws and maintenance of internal venous access devices.
7. Records daily temperature log and download the data weekly for the Wyoming Immunization Program.
8. Completes Prior Authorization requests for medications, as needed. Refill patient medications per clinic standing order.
9. Obtains written consent from patients for procedures and minor surgeries and assists in surgery, cleaning, setting up and applying dressings.
10. Cleans and prepares all used surgical instruments for sterilization, as needed.
11. Obtains results of diagnostic tests or procedures and forwards to appropriate practitioners.
12. Uses all laboratory equipment; including but not limited to, microscope, centrifuge, etc.
13. Assists with physical examinations, well child and prenatal care.
14. Knowledgeable in medical asepsis and the OSHA standards for in-clinic procedures
15. Cleans and prepares exam rooms for patients and breaks down at the end of the day.
16. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens or performs basic laboratory tests on the premises and disposes of contaminated supplies.
17. Completes nursing team expectations list as posted for routine tasks
18. Monitors samples for expiration dates. Rotates stock as samples received. Distributes medication samples to patient per provider order and properly documents.
19. Completes daily narcotic count per policy.
20. Assists with completing nursing daily work queues
21. Performs NST, if certified
22. Administers IV push medications
23. Performs Medicare Annual Wellness Visits
24. Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises one to three employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
The Clinic Nurse, RN shall be:
1. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
2. Unencumbered Registered Nurse in the State of Wyoming
3. Must possess communication skills to relate to the public in person
4. Demonstrate good organizational and leadership abilities
5. Basic computer skills necessary
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common appropriate journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write policies and procedures that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and is knowledgeable in metric and apothecary.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to modify care based on the developmental / functional age of the patient as well as that of the patient's ethnic background.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
 BLS required
 ACLS preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to act as a patient advocate. Ability to interact with patients, families, visitors and co-workers. Ability to interact assertively and tactfully when dealing with conflict and in group solving activities. Ability to demonstrate a professional, open minded approach in identifying problems and resolving problems/conflicts.
AGE SPECIFIC:
Must be able to provide care according to the developmental level and or chronological patient served. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying the needs and abilities of each patient, and demonstrating an understanding of how a patient’s chronological and developmental age influences his/her need for adaptations related to his/her abilities. Also, an understanding of how a patient’s age impacts his/her ability to deal with and adapt to the care needed/provided is required. General census of neonatal to geriatric patients.
