College and Career Coach
DEPARTMENT: Teaching JOB STATUS: Full Time

GRADE/LEVEL: P-12 F.L.S.A: Exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: 190 contracted days
POSITION SUMMARY
The College and Career Coach supports students in grades 7 through 12 in identifying and pursuing postsecondary education and career pathways. This role helps students develop a vision for their future by providing resources, guidance, and personalized planning in alignment with academic and career goals. The Coach works collaboratively with counselors, teachers, administrators, and families to ensure all students are prepared for life after high school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
College and Career Readiness:
Guide students in exploring postsecondary options including 2-year and 4-year colleges, trade schools, military service, apprenticeships, and direct-to-work opportunities.
- Coordinate and lead college and career readiness workshops, information sessions, and classroom presentations.
- Provide support for college applications, financial aid (FAFSA/Scholarships), resume writing, and interview preparation.
- Track and support students in completing graduation requirements and career readiness benchmarks.
Individual and Group Advising:
- Meet with students one-on-one and in small groups to develop and maintain individualized college and career plans (ICAPs or equivalent).
- Identify student interests and aptitudes using tools like interest inventories, career assessments, and goal-setting activities.
- Assist in organizing college visits, job shadowing, internships, and mentorship opportunities.
Program Development:
- Collaborate with school staff to integrate college and career awareness into the curriculum.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, colleges, technical programs, and community organizations.
- Organize and promote events such as college fairs, career days, and parent nights.
Data and Reporting:
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of student engagement and program outcomes.
- Use data to identify trends, needs, and areas for improvement in college and career programming.
- Report regularly to school leadership on progress and initiatives.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Other requirements per job description.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with middle and high school students in an educational setting. Minimum of one year of successful experience with proven interpersonal skills and multi-tasking abilities in a job related field. Other requirements per job description.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Hand-eye and mind-eye coordination. Constant hearing; intermittent speaking, standing, walking and writing. Frequent carrying, keyboarding, and other repetitive movements. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects often.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management. Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students. Demonstrated skills in the use of technology to enhance student learning.
