Basic Function
The Kitchen Supervisor will help lead our culinary team to deliver exceptional food quality, ensure smooth kitchen operations, and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization. You’ll work closely with the Executive Chef to inspire our team and keep things running efficiently during service.
Essential Functions
- Supervise and support line cooks and prep staff during meal service
- Ensure consistent food preparation and presentation according to standards
- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and standards.
- Assist in managing inventory, ordering, and receiving of kitchen supplies
- Enforce sanitation, health, and safety guidelines in the kitchen
- Conduct line checks and assist with training new culinary team members
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas
- Monitor food waste and help implement cost-control measures
- Foster a positive and productive kitchen environment
- 2-3 years of kitchen experience in a hotel, resort, or high-volume restaurant preferred
- Previous supervisory or lead line cook experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen sanitation standards
- Ability to lead a team with professionalism and respect
- Maintains a positive, professional attitude—even in fast-paced, high-stress environments
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working near hot equipment and on slippery surfaces
- Able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and lifting (up to 100 lbs; carry up to 50 lbs)
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Culinary degree or certification is a plus
- Must collaborate effectively with support departments to ensure timely and high-quality food preparation.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient in a high-pressure, fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working on potentially slippery surfaces.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods in close proximity to hot equipment (e.g., ovens, burners).
