What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender position at Hotel Chelsea?
This post is for an exciting new Japanese restaurant opening at The Hotel Chelsea at the beginning of May.
Teruko at The Hotel Chelsea is now hiring Servers. We are looking for experienced hospitality professionals to join our team and take part in this highly anticipated opening. We are currently focused on candidates with full-time availability and at least two years of fine dining experience, specifically in Japanese cuisine, or with an interested in learning Japanese cuisine. Japanese language skills are a plus!
Full-time training is scheduled to start mid to late-April. Opening is scheduled for early May.
Once open, you must be available 4 nights between the days of Tuesday and Saturday (the restaurant will be closed on Sundays and Mondays).

About This Role:
Bartenders are responsible for producing high-quality cocktails for an upscale clientele, as well as thorough liquor knowledge and a commitment to learning the food menu at a server-level standard. Experience in a Japanese restaurant or bar are a very big plus. We will absolutely require you to have at least an interest in learning more about Japanese cuisine and beverage.
Specific job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing quality food and beverage service to guests according to specifications, courteously and efficiently
- Basic knowledge of Japanese food and ingredients
- Basic knowledge of Japanese beverages, including craft sake and shochu
- Ability to make classic cocktails by memory
- A willingness to curate your bartending style to the restaurant's standards
- An ability to move efficiently and multi-task
What You Bring:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a bartender in a high-end bar
- A positive attitude and passion for providing exceptional hospitality service
- Flexible work schedules: the ability to work night, weekends and holidays
- The ability to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects, up to 50lbs
- Kneel, bend, or stoop, ascend or descend stairs; be on feet for extended periods of time
