Position Title: Housekeeping Inspector
Accountable To: General Manager / Operations Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Primary Objective of Position
Provides supervision and training to room attendants and public space utility attendants. Ensures the prompt return of clean rooms to reception for resale to incoming guests. Inspects guest rooms and public areas for compliance with established Company cleanliness, maintenance and set-up standards.
Essential Functions
- Inspect guest rooms and public spaces to ensure compliance with cleanliness, maintenance and set- up standards as well as to verify status.
- Personally, inspect a minimum of 50 guest rooms per day to ensure cleanliness in the following areas:
Bed-making/changing of all linen, vacuuming, dusting, stocking/supplies, mirrors/windows, telephones, furniture, closet, other
- Inspect corresponding guest bathrooms to ensure cleanliness in the following areas: Floor, vanity, bathtub/shower curtain, stocking/supplies, toilet, towels, other
- Inspect the cleaning of public areas, including public restrooms, lobby areas, dining room, corridors, elevators, stairwells and offices.
- Work alongside housekeeping staff to ensure cleanliness standards are being met through ongoing training and encouragement.
- Assist cleaning rooms as required by property demands.
- Complete all necessary paperwork on a timely basis
- Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests.
- Coordinate activities with other hotel departments in order to facilitate increased levels of communication and guest satisfaction.
- Assist in the daily maintenance of room inventory status to achieve optimal levels of revenues while maintaining high levels of guest expectations.
- Responsible for alerting maintenance to quality issues.
- Ensure housekeeping carts are kept clean and organized, check closets and stock needs
- Assist housekeeping or laundry staff during peak times, breaks, tardiness and absences

Education and Experience
- High school or equivalent education required.
- Minimum of three years housekeeping experience with at least one year in housekeeping supervisory role.

- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

- Must possess basic computational ability.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services and facilities.

Physical Requirements
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
- Walking and standing are required for close to 100% of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on occasion.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning/inspection tasks.

- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Other Job Requirements
- All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Company Standards
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
- Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the Company’s rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel facilities. Associates who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
