Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Take Away Specialist for the DoubleTree by Hilton in Pikesville, MD.
Job Purpose:
The Takeaway Specialist at DoubleTree by Hilton plays a crucial role in managing takeaway orders from third-party platforms, room service, and phone orders. When takeaway demand is low, the Takeaway Specialist supports the front-of-house team with cleaning, side work tasks, and maintaining organization. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a focus on ensuring smooth operations across all guest touchpoint.
- Order Processing & Fulfillment:
o Manage takeaway orders from third-party platforms (e.g., UberEats, DoorDash, Grubhub, etc.) with accuracy and efficiency.
o Coordinate room service orders and ensure prompt, correct delivery to guest rooms.
o Handle phone orders from guests, providing assistance with menu inquiries and special requests.
- Third-Party Platform Management:
o Monitor and manage orders through third-party apps, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment.
o Keep menus, pricing, and promotions updated across all platforms.
o Address cancellations, refunds, or customer queries in a professional manner through the platforms.
- Customer Service:
o Deliver exceptional service to all guests, maintaining the high standards of DoubleTree by Hilton.
o Communicate proactively with guests regarding delivery times, order updates, or delays.
- Order Preparation & Packaging:
o Ensure takeaway and room service orders are prepared according to guest specifications.
o Package orders neatly and securely, following food safety and presentation standards.
- Coordination with Kitchen and Delivery Teams:
o Work closely with the kitchen to ensure orders are prepared correctly and on time.
o Coordinate efficient pickups and handovers with third-party delivery drivers.
- Supporting Front-of-House:
- When there are no active takeaway orders, support the front of house team by:
§ Assisting with cleaning duties to maintain a tidy and welcoming environment.
§ Performing side work tasks such as restocking supplies, folding napkins, and organizing workstations.
§ Assisting with general organization and operational efficiency to ensure smooth service for all guests.
- Inventory & Stock Control:
o Monitor and manage inventory related to takeaway operations, including packaging materials and utensils.
- Quality Control:
o Double-check orders for accuracy and presentation before dispatch, ensuring they meet the standards of DoubleTree by Hilton.
o Address any issues related to incorrect or unsatisfactory orders promptly.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
o Follow all health and food safety protocols in order preparation and packaging.
o Ensure compliance with regulations in handling food and coordinating
Qualifications and Requirements:
High School diploma /Secondary qualification or equivalent.
Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards.
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Familiarity with third-party delivery platforms (UberEats, DoorDash, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items.
- Ability to read, speak and write the English language in order to communicate with guests.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry packages up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
- Ability to operate food & beverage equipment.
- Food Safety certification and alcohol awareness certification desirable.
- Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
