Summary
Red Herring is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic bartender to join our team. As a member of our bar staff, you will play a vital role in creating exceptional beverage experiences for our guests. You will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of beverages, engaging with patrons, and ensuring a welcoming and memorable atmosphere at our bar.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to…)
- Welcome guests to the bar area with a friendly and inviting demeanor.
- Prepare and serve a diverse range of beverages, including cocktails, wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks.
- Offer recommendations and guidance on beverage selections to guests, based on their preferences and menu offerings.
- Mix and garnish drinks according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure the bar area is well-stocked with ingredients, glassware, and supplies.
- Keep the bar area clean and organized, including regular cleaning of equipment and utensils.
- Process guest orders accurately and handle cash and credit card transactions.
- Engage with patrons, provide exceptional customer service, and create a welcoming and memorable experience.
- Monitor guest needs, including refilling drinks and accommodating special requests.
- Uphold responsible beverage service by verifying the age of guests and refusing service when necessary.
- Collaborate with kitchen and waitstaff to coordinate food and beverage service.
- Stay informed about menu changes, promotions, and daily specials to provide accurate information to guests.
- Participate in opening and closing duties, including setup and cleanup of the bar area.
- Adhere to Red Herring's service guidelines and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
- Maintain knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a Bartender or Bar Staff Member in a high-end restaurant or bar is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of beverage preparation techniques, cocktails, wines, and spirits.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and carry trays or beverage supplies.
- A team-oriented attitude with a commitment to providing outstanding guest experiences.
- Basic knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems is desirable but not mandatory.
- Certification in responsible beverage service is a plus.

HOURS & COMPENSATION
This is a full-time or part-time position with competitive compensation, commensurate with experience. The role requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate restaurant hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers
- Take customer orders and provide recommendations based on their preferences
- Check identification to verify legal drinking age
- Clean and sanitize bar area, including utensils and equipment
- Maintain a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of ingredients and beverages
- Collect payment from customers and process transactions accurately
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
```Experience```
- Previous experience as a bartender or in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of hospitality and bartending practices
- Strong math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating drink prices
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques
- Experience using POS (Point of Sale) systems for order processing
- Knowledge of brewing techniques and different types of alcoholic beverages is a plus
