Guest Service Agent - Hotel Herringbone
Hotel Herringbone is seeking a friendly and adaptable Guest Service Agent to join our team. This is a flexible position requiring a willingness to contribute to all aspects of hotel operations as part of a team effort.
**Department:** Front Office/Guest Services
**Reports To:** General Manager/Director of Operations
**Summary:**
The Guest Service Agent is the first point of contact for our guests, providing exceptional service and ensuring a positive experience. This role includes front desk operations, guest assistance, light housekeeping, and other tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel. Excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to multitask are essential.
**Responsibilities:**
* **Guest Services:**
* Greet guests warmly upon arrival and departure.
* Efficiently and accurately handle check-in and check-out procedures.
* Answer calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about the hotel and local area.
* Address guest concerns and resolve issues professionally.
* Make reservations and manage bookings.
* Maintain knowledge of hotel services and amenities as they are learned.
* **Front Desk Operations:**
* Operate the hotel's property management system (PMS) for reservations, check-ins/outs, and billing.
* Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions.
* Maintain accurate records of guest accounts and transactions.
* Clear out balances at the end of each day, reporting any discrepancies to the Director.
* Verify significant issues, guest complaints, or unusual situations with the Director.
* **Light Housekeeping and Maintenance Support:**
* Assist with light housekeeping duties during downtime, including:
* Rotating and folding laundry.
* Sweeping and maintaining the cleanliness of the plaza area.
* Sweeping and mopping the lobby and office.
* Emptying trash in the lobby and office and the plaza area as needed.
* **Amenity Management:**
* Deliver and set up amenities in guest rooms as requested and with Director approval.
* Maintain amenity inventory and inform the Director when restocking is needed.
* **Other Duties:**
* Assist with tasks assigned by the Director of Rooms.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Adhere to all hotel policies and procedures.
* Report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
**Qualifications:**
* High school diploma or equivalent, college or hospitality preferred.
* Previous customer service or hospitality experience is desirable.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
* PMS experience is a plus.
* **Must have reliable transportation.**
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
* Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
* **Must be willing to perform all duties as described, as teamwork is essential.**
**Physical Demands and Working Conditions:**
* Ability to stand for extended periods.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
* Ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
* Work is primarily in a front desk/lobby environment; however, approximately 40% of duties are performed away from the lobby.
* May be required to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
