As a Food and Beverage Manager, your role is to ensure our guests enjoy a quality dining experience that will allow them to be productive and stay strong when they are away from home. Your ability to support the food and beverage department employees through hands on leadership will guarantee an extraordinary food experience for our guests.
- Hire, train, coach, schedule and mentor all food and beverage employees.
- Support employees and fill in as needed to ensure guests are receiving attentive and efficient service.
- Proactively engage in conversation with guests, seeking feedback about their stay and their dining experience. Thank them and invite them to return!
- Apply problem solving skills to resolve guest issues or complaints to their satisfaction.
- Monitor all food and beverage deliveries for portion control, quality and presentation.
- Ensure that food handling and safety guidelines are followed, including kitchen logs.
- Maintain daily cash control and financial reporting for the department.
- Oversee inventory, ordering and receiving of all food and beverage items.
- Establish sales promotion efforts to meet or exceed profit objectives while controlling both food and beverage costs.
- Support the goals of the hotel through teamwork and collaboration with all departments.
- Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders
- Supervise food prep and cooking
- Check food plating and temperature
- Establish portion sizes
- Schedule kitchen staff shifts
- Order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed
- Train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques
- Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g. in refrigerators)
- Keep weekly and monthly cost reports
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area
- Cover shifts cooking on the line as needed
Requirements and skills
- Previous food and beverage experience as a Lead Server or Supervisor is required and prior Management experience may be required at some locations. To be successful in this role, you need strong verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to read, write, type and use basic technology. This job requires you to stand and move around for an entire shift and you also must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. You must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit and Alcohol Server’s Permit. Applicants must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Proven work experience as a Kitchen Manager, Restaurant Manager or Head Chef
- Hands-on experience with planning menus and ordering ingredients
- Knowledge of a wide range of recipes
- Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
- Excellent organizational skills
- Conflict management abilities
- Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment
- Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends
- Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management is a plus
