Groundskeeper Job Description
The Groundskeeper at the Crooked River Lodge is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the hotel grounds and landscaping to provide a clean, comfortable, presentable and positive guest experience. The Groundskeeper will support general hotel maintenance and grounds keeping functions as directed.
Essential Job Functions
- Clearing all trash, weeds, brush and debris from the hotel grounds.
- Watering all plants and flowers located on hotel grounds.
- Weeding, mulching and trimming whenever necessary or as directed. (This will require the use of equipment such as shears, blade saw and other gardening tools.)
- Responsible for the maintenance of plant life throughout the hotel.
- Assist with overall swimming pool and spa maintenance, including pool room machinery and chemicals.
- Cleans hotel grounds and removes litter and trash on a daily and consistent basis.
- Responsible for daily upkeep of the property buildings and grounds which includes removing, cleaning and replacement of trash bins.
- Responsible for the care, maintenance and inventory of all groundskeeping supplies used as part of the groundskeeper role and ensures they are safe and in good working conditions.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, clear and presentable patio area which includes the organizing of chairs and tables as well as clearing of all trash and debris.
- Sweeps or blows hotel entrances, walkways and hotel back areas.
- Performs daily walk-through of the hotel grounds and identifies, reports as well as addresses areas with immediate grounds keeping needs.
- Continually monitors all work areas for safety and sanitation.
- Responsible for maintaining clean, clear and presentable Boat House and dock areas which includes the cleaning and organizing of furniture as well as clearing of all trash and debris.
- Responsible for pressure cleaning all hotel entrances, patio and other areas on an as-needed basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager of the hotel.
Supportive Job Functions:
- Work with flexibility during high volume periods and cover shifts when necessary within the department.
- Communicate all information related to the property to the General Manager in a timely manner.
- Be available and able to give out general hotel knowledge to guests and assist in taking guest luggage to rooms as needed.
- Be available and able to assist guests with requests, questions, and problems not engineering related.
- Work with the General Manager to ensure compliance in all safety related matters.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include weekends and holidays.
- Must be detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions thoroughly and exercise good judgment in regards to hotel grounds maintenance and upkeep needs.
- Be able to maintain a clean and functional workspace.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a high-volume environment.
- Work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision as an important part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and walking frequently for up to entire work shift.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds consistently, up to 75 or more pounds occasionally.
- Able to reach, lift, carry, push, pull, grasp, manipulate or otherwise move objects.
- Frequent bending, squatting, twisting and turning.
- As a seasonal property, long hours during peak periods are sometimes required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
