Housekeeping Supervisor
Job Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and overall efficiency of the housekeeping department. This role involves directly supervising housekeeping attendants, housepersons, laundry staff, and public attendants while maintaining high cleanliness and service standards in accordance with hotel policies and brand expectations.
This is a full-time position. In addition to supervisory duties, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for covering call-in shifts for any housekeeping position as needed. During slower business seasons, the supervisor may also be scheduled as a room attendant to support operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership
- Directly supervise and support housekeeping staff, including room attendants, housepersons, laundry personnel, and public attendants.
- Assign daily tasks and responsibilities, ensuring proper workload distribution.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily goals, special projects, and guest expectations.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members to maintain hotel standards and improve performance.
- Monitor employee productivity and ensure efficiency in room turnover and public area upkeep.
- Cover call-in shifts as needed to ensure smooth operations and maintain staffing levels.
Housekeeping Operations
- Ensure all rooms and public areas meet cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Perform room inspections to verify that guest rooms, hallways, and common areas are properly cleaned and maintained.
- Assist in cleaning rooms, handling laundry, and fulfilling other housekeeping duties as needed.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, guest supplies, and linens.
- Oversee department inventories, including ordering and tracking usage of necessary supplies.
Ensure all housekeeping equipment is properly maintained and reported for repairs when needed.
- During slower business seasons, may be scheduled as a room attendant to support operational needs.
Quality Control & Guest Satisfaction
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure rooms and common areas meet or exceed brand standards.
- Address and resolve guest concerns related to housekeeping services promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the front desk and maintenance teams to ensure room readiness for guest arrivals.
- Uphold health and safety regulations and ensure compliance with hotel policies.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
- Maintain accurate records of room status, staff assignments, and cleaning schedules.
- Assist in scheduling housekeeping staff to ensure proper coverage based on occupancy and operational needs.
- Monitor housekeeping labor costs and work within budgeted guidelines.
- Support recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in coordination with the Director of Rooms.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in training new hires and implementing housekeeping procedures.
- Support and uphold hotel safety and sanitation protocols.
- Step in to perform housekeeping duties as required.
- Conduct investigations and follow up on reported lost-and-found items.
- When required, inspect other housekeepers’ rooms to ensure standards are met.
Requirements
- Prior housekeeping or supervisory experience in a hotel or hospitality setting preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to uphold cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Able to work independently as part of a team
- Schedule 8- hour shifts with weekend and holiday availability
- Proficiency in using housekeeping management software or hotel systems is a plus.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift throughout the shift as required.
