Summary
We are seeking a skilled Bartender to join our team at Hotel San Luis Obispo. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting exceptional beverages and providing outstanding service to our guests. Your contributions will enhance the overall guest experience at our vibrant urban location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
- Accommodate patrons by making each individual feel welcome. Explain the menu and assist patrons with their order. Address patrons by name when known.
- Receive orders from patrons and waitstaff.
- Prepare and serve liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer and nonalcoholic beverages as ordered.
- Ensure that fruit and other garnishes are prepared before the opening of the bar.
- Maintain the bar and keep it clean and organized.
- Attractively display glasses and liquor bottles.
- Ensure that patrons ordering alcoholic beverages are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs.
- Enter sales in POS system and close all bar checks and dining room cash checks.
- Use proper judgment and, when necessary, alert a manager to assist with refusing service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
- Responsibly serve alcoholic beverages according to RBS.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Proven experience as a bartender in a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety and handling procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers.
- Ability to learn cash register software.
- Written and verbal comprehension of English language.
- Basic mathematics computations.
- Strong sense of urgency.
Work Experience and/or Education
- Must Have High School Education or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year bartending experience in an upscale dining establishment.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- Luxury Hotel Experience
- Aloha POS system experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to complete orders quickly and accurately.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be of legal drinking age or older.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Job Type: hourly, non-exempt
Status: part-time initially with possibility for full-time
Compensation: $16.50 per hour plus gratuity
Hours: 24 - 30 hours per week
Shift: 8 hour shift, 8 am – 4:30 pm
Schedule: weekday, weekend, holiday (must have holiday availability)
The hourly rate listed is the rate Hotel San Luis Obispo reasonably expects to pay for this position.

Must be able to tolerate varying stress levels, temperature, illumination, and air quality. Heavy guest contact is required.
