What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations & Banquet Supervisor position at Hotel Walloon Resort?
The position assists in overseeing all banquet events in Walloon Lake Village, including the Talcott, Village Green Park, the Walloon Lake Inn, Hotel Walloon, and Barrel Back. This employee completes and supervises set-ups, breakdowns, bar staffing, and quality of service checks. They will also be involved in planning community events, training bar staff, and ordering products and supplies.
This position coordinates with the Sales & Event Team, Restaurant General Managers, and Facilities Team to ensure that all events are well-organized and exceed clients' expectations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate with the Event team on the group setup. With the Event Coordinator, set up rooms and function areas with designated tables, chairs, dance floor, flipcharts, easels, and other equipment as specified by group requirements and in accordance with departmental standards.
• Responsible for operations and guest banquet experiences at restaurants, the hotel, and venue spaces.
• Manage the food and beverage service, addressing guests' requests and complaints.
• Manage and operate the Talcott Venue. Understand the inventory, storage, and items needed to execute events.
• Meet with entities to review scheduled groups’ Banquet Event Orders (BEO). Ensure agreement of delivery times, amounts, and arrangements between teams.
• Remain onsite during all group events to ensure guest satisfaction and venue fulfillment.
• Assist with Bartender duties as needed and ensure staff is at peak performance.
• Break down function areas as scheduled by departmental procedures.
• Inspect set rooms for cleanliness and agreement to group requirements; rectify deficiencies.
• Inspect the cleanliness and working condition of all equipment and supplies to be set up in the function area and rectify any deficiencies.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all Departmental/Hotel policies and procedures, including venue safety guidelines.
• Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items/surfaces, according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and hotel requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments on an as-needed basis
• Full-time position (40) hours. In slower seasonal times, hours may be filled by working with the Social Media/Marketing team, Sales & Events Office Administration, at Hotel Walloon, Barrel Back Restaurant, or Walloon Lake Inn.
Qualifications
• High school degree or GED or equivalent in work experience.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience with banquets and food and beverage operations, including one year of supervisory experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Bartending experience and TIPS certification would be a plus but not mandatory
• Communication skills are needed for a significant portion of this role; demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees, and third parties that reflects highly on the brand and the Company.
• Organizational skills and independent work are necessary for this position and the success of community events.
• Must be able to adhere to timelines in the completion of set-ups.
• Must be able to perform in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.
Salary : $23 - $28
